The Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is many things. It is a life-changing experience. A fun time with friends. An opportunity to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. It is a recognised mark of achievement and something that is highly regarded by universities and employers.

Completing the Award is not an easy feat and we are proud to say that a significant number of pupils persevere and see the challenge to the end.

A young person can do their Award, regardless of ability, gender, background, or location. Achieving the award isn’t about competition or being first, it is about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.

Pupils are given the opportunity to complete the following awards:

  • Bronze Award in Year 9
  • Silver Award in Year 10
  • Gold Award in Jane Austen College Sixth Form and in collaboration with Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form
